Diabetes study reveals hidden impact on exercise performance
NCT ID NCT02051504
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looked at how type 1 diabetes and long-term blood sugar control (HbA1c) affect the body's ability to deliver and use oxygen during exercise. Researchers compared 79 people with and without diabetes to understand why fitness levels may be lower in those with high blood sugar. The goal was to learn more about how diabetes impacts muscle oxygen use, not to test a new treatment.
