Ear-Zap therapy may unfreeze stiff shoulders
NCT ID NCT07368751
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding a gentle nerve stimulation device (tVNS) to standard exercises can reduce pain and improve movement in people with frozen shoulder. Forty adults aged 40-65 will receive either active tVNS or a sham device during 6 weeks of supervised rehab. Researchers will measure pain, function, and satisfaction to see if tVNS provides extra relief.
What this could mean

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a drug-free way to reduce pain and improve shoulder function for people with frozen shoulder.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 40 people. The sham control may show similar results, and benefits may not apply to everyone.
