First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a Turkish translation of the Four-Dimensional Symptom Questionnaire (4DSQ) helps Belgian general practitioners who don't speak Turkish better diagnose depression and anxiety in Turkish-speaking patients with language barriers. About 80 patients and their doctors will take part in interviews to see if the questionnaire improves diagnostic accuracy and treatment decisions. The goal is to provide better mental health support for this community.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Turkish translation of the Four-Dimensional Symptom Questionnaire (4DSQ)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could give doctors a simple tool to better identify depression and anxiety in Turkish-speaking patients who struggle with Dutch or French.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 80 participants and no control group. The questionnaire may not work as well in real-world clinics or for all patients.
