Walking and thinking at the same time: new study tests dual-task ability in MS patients
NCT ID NCT07462338
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looks at whether the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test, a common walking test, can reliably measure how people with multiple sclerosis (MS) perform when they have to walk and think at the same time. Fifty volunteers with MS will do the TUG test alone, while counting backwards, and while carrying a tray. The goal is to see if this test is a valid and reliable way to assess both motor and cognitive function together.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could provide a simple, reliable way for doctors to assess both movement and thinking together in people with MS.
What could go wrong
This is a small observational study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone with MS. It does not test any treatment.
