New trial aims to find best drug to stop bleeding in High-Risk C-Sections
NCT ID NCT07423156
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two drugs—tranexamic acid and vasopressin—to see which works better at reducing blood loss during planned C-sections in women with placenta previa, a condition where the placenta covers the cervix. 58 women will be randomly assigned to receive one of the drugs. The goal is to find a safer way to prevent severe bleeding and reduce the need for blood transfusions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Tranexamic acid and vasopressin
What this could lead to
If this trial shows one drug is better, it could lead to a standard treatment to reduce dangerous bleeding during C-sections for women with placenta previa.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 58 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. Both drugs have risks, and the study hasn't started yet.
