Summary
This study tests whether releasing a blood pressure cuff (used as a tourniquet) early during blood collection reduces the rate of hemolysis — when red blood cells burst and ruin the sample. About 792 emergency department patients with non-critical conditions will be randomly assigned to early or late tourniquet release. The goal is to see if a simple timing change can lower the need for repeat blood draws and speed up care.
