PET scans reveal hidden lung changes in COVID-19 survivors
NCT ID NCT04841707
First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study used advanced total-body PET scans to compare lung function in 13 people who had COVID-19 with healthy individuals. Researchers measured how well the lungs' blood-air barrier worked, and followed up with COVID-19 patients 4 months later to see if any changes persisted. The goal was to better understand how COVID-19 affects the lungs over time, not to test a treatment.
