New device aims to help tongue cancer patients speak and swallow better after surgery

NCT ID NCT07110142

Summary

This study is testing whether starting a special tongue-strengthening exercise program early after surgery can improve speech and swallowing for people with tongue cancer. The program uses a small biofeedback device called a Tongueometer to guide exercises. Researchers want to see if this proactive approach leads to better long-term function and quality of life compared to standard care, which often starts therapy only after problems arise.
