Own blood injections may ease jaw arthritis pain

NCT ID NCT06839326

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested two treatments for jaw joint arthritis (TMJ osteoarthritis): platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and autologous conditioned serum (ACS), both made from the patient's own blood. 75 adults who had not improved with standard care received one of these injections after a joint washout procedure. The goal was to see which treatment better reduces pain and improves mouth opening.
