First seen Jan 18, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding pain neuroscience education, motor imagery, and action observation to standard treatment (splint, counseling, exercises) can further reduce pain and disability in people with chronic temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Fifty adults with jaw pain for at least 3 months participated. The goal was to see if teaching the brain about pain and using mental practice could improve outcomes beyond usual care.
