First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This pilot study tested whether Tixel, a device used to treat wrinkles around the eyes, could also improve dry eye symptoms. 75 adults with mild to moderate wrinkles and dry eye received the standard Tixel treatment. Researchers measured tear film stability and dry eye questionnaires to see if symptoms improved.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Tixel device (fractional peri-orbital treatment)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward a new way to ease dry eye symptoms while also treating wrinkles.

What could go wrong

This is a small pilot study with no control group, so results may not be reliable or apply to everyone. The treatment is not a cure and may not work for all dry eye patients.
