Can a simple wrap improve wobbly ankles? new trial investigates
NCT ID NCT07667816
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding tissue flossing—a tight wrap around the ankle—to standard exercise can improve balance and function in young adults with chronic ankle instability. Forty-eight people aged 18 to 30 will be split into three groups: exercise alone, exercise plus low-pressure flossing, or exercise plus higher-pressure flossing. All will do the same 6-week rehab program, and their ankle stability will be measured before and after treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- tissue flossing (a device that wraps and compresses the ankle) combined with exercise training
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a better rehabilitation method for people with chronic ankle instability, improving balance and function.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 48 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The study hasn't started yet, and the benefits of adding tissue flossing to exercise may be minimal.
