Weight-Loss drug may wipe out hidden breast cancer cells

NCT ID NCT06517212

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether tirzepatide, a weight-loss medication, combined with standard hormone therapy can help clear tiny amounts of cancer DNA from the blood of people with obesity or overweight who have had hormone-positive, HER2-negative, node-positive early breast cancer. The goal is to see if weight loss changes body chemistry to stop cancer from coming back. About 48 adults will take tirzepatide alongside their usual endocrine therapy for up to two years.
