Weight-Loss drug trial aims to tame irregular heartbeat after surgery

NCT ID NCT07382024

Summary

This study is testing if a medication called tirzepatide, which helps with weight loss, can also help control a persistent irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) after a corrective heart procedure. It will involve 200 overweight adults who are scheduled for this procedure. Researchers want to see if taking the drug for about 4 months around the time of the procedure reduces how often the irregular heartbeat returns and leads to better health outcomes.
