Less surgery may be enough for Low-Risk thyroid cancer

NCT ID NCT03570021

First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looks at whether removing only the thyroid gland works as well as also removing nearby lymph nodes in people with low-risk thyroid cancer. About 352 adults with small to medium-sized thyroid tumors will be randomly assigned to one of two surgeries. The goal is to see if the simpler surgery leads to the same rate of complete remission, avoiding extra side effects.
