First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This pilot study tested a tool called CQUPLE, designed to help patients with low-risk thyroid cancer understand their treatment options and avoid overtreatment. Fifty patients were split into two groups: one received the CQUPLE decision aid and question list, while the other got usual care. The study measured how acceptable and feasible the tool was for patients and doctors.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
CQUPLE intervention (decision aid chart and question prompt list)
What this could lead to
If successful, this tool could help patients with low-risk thyroid cancer make more informed choices and reduce unnecessary surgeries.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The tool's effectiveness is still unproven.
