NCT ID NCT00673010

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tested a special type of radioactive iodine (124-I) to measure how much radiation each thyroid cancer tumor receives during standard treatment with 131-I. Twenty adults with thyroid cancer that had spread were scanned to see if 124-I could predict which tumors would respond to treatment. The goal was to avoid giving unnecessary radiation to patients who wouldn't benefit and to customize doses for those who would.
