NCT ID NCT07271381
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how common chemicals in personal care products, processed foods, and synthetic materials affect skin, gut, and airway health. One hundred twenty healthy adults will stay in a controlled hospital room for two 7-day periods—one with filtered air and pure products, and one with everyday exposures. Researchers will measure changes in skin, gut, and lung function to understand links to allergic and inflammatory conditions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Environmental exposures (chemicals in personal care products, processed foods, synthetic materials)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help identify which everyday chemicals trigger allergic or inflammatory responses, guiding future prevention strategies.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage observational study with only 120 healthy volunteers. Results may not apply to people with existing conditions, and the controlled setting may not reflect real-world exposure.
