New monitor could make breathing tube insertion safer for kids
NCT ID NCT07435792
First seen Mar 13, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study will test a device called TetraGraph that measures muscle response to electrical stimulation. It will track how quickly the muscle relaxant rocuronium takes effect and wears off in 130 children having surgery. The goal is to help doctors know the best time to place a breathing tube, potentially reducing sore throats and vocal cord injuries.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
rocuronium (a muscle relaxant given during anesthesia)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help anesthesiologists give muscle relaxants more precisely, reducing complications during breathing tube placement.
What could go wrong
This is an early observational study, not a treatment trial. Results may not apply to all patients or change current practice.
As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
