Simple blood test may spot lung cancer earlier
NCT ID NCT07465848
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing whether measuring telomeres (parts of your DNA) in a blood sample can help doctors diagnose lung cancer. Researchers will collect blood from 1,200 people, including those with lung cancer and healthy volunteers, to build a predictive algorithm. The goal is to create a simple, non-invasive tool that could flag lung cancer risk and assist in early diagnosis.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Blood sample collection for telomere biomarker analysis
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test that helps doctors diagnose lung cancer earlier and more accurately.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage diagnostic study, not a treatment trial. The test may not prove accurate enough for widespread use, and results may not apply to all populations.
