Show and tell: simple trick slashes Kids' dental needle fear
NCT ID NCT07626008
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a simple technique called 'tell-show-do' to reduce dental anxiety in 59 children aged 5-7 who needed a numbing shot for a filling. In one visit, the dentist explained and showed the syringe before using it; in another visit, the tools were hidden. The goal was to see if this approach made children less anxious and more cooperative during the injection.
