Brain scans and saliva tests: hopkins tests new Tele-Speech therapy for stroke survivors

NCT ID NCT05845047

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Apr 17, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study is testing two different speech therapy programs delivered via telemedicine to see which is better at improving conversation skills in people who have trouble speaking after a stroke (aphasia). Researchers will compare a new therapy designed to engage the right side of the brain with a standard word-naming therapy. They will measure changes in how well participants can describe pictures and name objects, and will also use brain scans and saliva tests to understand how the therapies work.
