First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested a special type of talk therapy, called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Loneliness (CBT-L), delivered by phone or computer to veterans with chronic pain who also feel lonely. The goal was to see if it could reduce loneliness and pain-related problems. About 40 veterans were randomly assigned to either CBT-L or standard pain-focused CBT. Researchers measured changes in loneliness, social interactions, and how much pain interfered with daily life.
