Teflon trick: shredded implant may reduce pain return after nerve surgery

NCT ID NCT07046247

First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looked at 150 people who had surgery for severe facial pain (trigeminal neuralgia). Doctors compared two ways of placing Teflon during the operation: one close to the nerve and one farther away. The goal was to see if placing shredded Teflon away from the nerve still controls pain well but lowers the chance of pain coming back. The study reviewed past patient records to find the best method.
