First seen Jun 08, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether combining transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) can help bowel function return faster after major abdominal surgery. About 148 adults having pancreas or colorectal surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either standard enhanced recovery care or standard care plus TEAS and TCM. The main goals are to see how quickly patients pass gas and have their first bowel movement after surgery.
