New recovery plan could get knee replacement patients home faster
NCT ID NCT07655921
First seen Jun 23, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a special recovery plan (ERAS) helps people recover faster after total knee replacement. 120 patients will either get standard care or the ERAS plan, which includes pre-surgery exercise, shorter fasting, and early walking. The goal is to see if they can eat, walk, and leave the hospital sooner.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocol
What this could lead to
If it works, this could lead to faster recovery, less pain, and shorter hospital stays for knee replacement patients.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial in one hospital, so results may not apply to everyone. The protocol involves many changes at once, so it's hard to know which part helps most.
As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
