Can ancient herbs outshine modern supplements for aging muscles?

NCT ID NCT07597850

First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula can improve muscle strength and bone health in older adults who are starting to become frail. 90 people aged 65 and older who are pre-frail will be randomly assigned to take either the TCM formula or a nutritional supplement called HMB for 24 weeks. The main goal is to see if the TCM formula helps increase handgrip strength, a key measure of muscle function.
