Experimental immune therapy takes on tough lymphomas

NCT ID NCT05963217

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early-phase trial is testing a new cell therapy called TBI-2001 for people with certain blood cancers (B-cell lymphoma, CLL, SLL) that have come back or not responded to at least two prior treatments. The therapy uses a patient's own immune cells, modified to recognize and attack cancer cells. The main goals are to find a safe dose and to see if it can shrink tumors.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

TBI-2001 (a CAR T-cell therapy made from the patient's own immune cells, designed to target and kill cancer cells with the CD19 marker)

What this could lead to

If this works, it could offer a new treatment option for people with certain blood cancers that have not responded to standard therapies.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, small Phase 1 trial with only 19 participants, so it is primarily testing safety and dosing. The therapy may not work, and there are risks of serious side effects like cytokine release syndrome or nervous system problems.
