Scientists hunt blood clues to prevent strokes after common heart procedure
NCT ID NCT02972008
Summary
This study aims to find blood markers that can predict which elderly patients are at higher risk of having a stroke or cognitive decline after a TAVR procedure, a common minimally invasive heart valve replacement. Researchers will enroll 542 patients over age 70 and analyze their blood and brain scans before and after the procedure. The goal is to identify patients who need extra monitoring or different care to prevent brain injury.
