Heart valve scans reveal hidden clues to valve aging
NCT ID NCT05758662
First seen May 19, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at why some replacement heart valves (TAVI) may wear out faster than others. Researchers will use a special PET scan to detect tiny calcium deposits, an early sign of valve damage, in 180 people who had a TAVI about 5 years ago. They will compare those with and without small blood clots on the valve, and also compare two different valve types. The goal is to understand what causes valve degeneration, not to test a new treatment.
