New catheter lock could slash infection risk in young cancer patients

NCT ID NCT05781295

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a special solution (taurolidine) placed inside the catheter can prevent infections better than the standard saltwater solution. About 148 children with cancer who need a central catheter will take part. The goal is to see if the taurolidine lock reduces the number of catheter-related bloodstream infections.
