Researchers are checking how safe the drug is, how the body processes it, and whether it lowers virus levels. The goal is to find a better treatment option for young patients.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
tenofovir alafenamide (TAF)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a safe and effective treatment option for children with chronic hepatitis B, helping control the virus and reduce liver damage.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase study with a small number of participants, so results may not apply to all children. The drug may not work better than placebo, and side effects are still being evaluated.
Conditions
The condition(s) this trial relates to.
As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
