Could a common ED drug help veterans breathe easier?

NCT ID NCT05937854

First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether tadalafil, a drug often used for erectile dysfunction, can reduce shortness of breath in 126 veterans who have both COPD and high blood pressure in the lungs. Participants will be randomly assigned to take either tadalafil or a placebo for six months, and neither they nor their doctors will know which they are taking. The researchers will track breathing, daily activity, exercise ability, and lung function through clinic visits and phone check-ins.
