New oil could boost liver cancer treatment
NCT ID NCT05435014
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new oil called T-ACE Oil, mixed with a chemotherapy drug, for people with liver cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. The oil is injected directly into the liver's blood vessels to block them and deliver chemo to the tumor. The trial aims to see if it is safe and works better than standard treatments. It is currently on hold.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
T-ACE Oil (a special oil mixed with the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a more effective way to treat liver cancer that cannot be removed by surgery, potentially improving tumor control.
What could go wrong
This is a very early (Phase 1/2) trial that is currently suspended, so results are uncertain. The treatment carries risks like blood clots in the lungs or brain, and it may not work better than existing options.
