Simple swallow test may spot nerve damage after lung surgery
NCT ID NCT05193240
First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a simple swallowing test done by a physiotherapist can reliably detect vocal cord paralysis after major lung surgery for cancer, compared to the standard scope exam. About 72 adults having left lung surgery or right lung surgery with lymph node removal will be enrolled. The goal is to see if the easier test can catch swallowing problems early and help prevent complications like pneumonia.
