Simple swallow test may spot nerve damage after lung surgery
NCT ID NCT05193240
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether a quick swallowing test done by a physical therapist can reliably detect vocal cord paralysis after major lung cancer surgery, compared to the standard scope exam. About 72 adults having lung surgery will take a swallowing test and a scope test right after surgery, and again on day 4. The goal is to see if the simpler test can identify patients at risk for swallowing problems, helping prevent complications like pneumonia.
