Could a simple swallow test replace an uncomfortable scope after surgery?

NCT ID NCT05193240

Summary

This study aims to see if a simple swallowing test performed by a physiotherapist is as good as a more complex scope exam for finding vocal cord paralysis after major lung cancer surgery. Vocal cord paralysis is a common complication that can lead to serious swallowing problems and pneumonia. Researchers will compare the results of both tests in 72 patients to see if the simpler test could be a useful screening tool.
