New drug aims to cut opioid use after hip surgery

Summary

This study tests a new pain medicine called suzetrigine in 210 adults having hip replacement surgery. Half will get the drug and half a placebo for 7 days, starting before surgery. The main goal is to see if it lowers the amount of opioids needed in the first 48 hours after surgery, helping patients recover with fewer side effects.
