Mask type matters: study finds different masks reduce different smoke symptoms for nurses

Summary

This study compared how well surgical masks and N95 masks protect operating room nurses from physical symptoms caused by surgical smoke. Thirty-eight nurses wore each type of mask during their shifts and reported their symptoms. The results showed N95 masks were better at reducing muscle problems, while surgical masks were better for reducing eye irritation and breathing issues.
