What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC)

What this could lead to

If successful, this approach could offer a new treatment option to control recurrent mucinous ovarian cancer and potentially extend survival.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The combination of major surgery and heated chemotherapy carries risks like infection, organ damage, and complications from anesthesia.
