Weekly calls aim to ease burden for veterans battling lung cancer

Summary

This study is testing whether weekly phone calls from a trained support worker can improve the quality of life for Veterans with lung cancer. About 194 Veterans will be randomly assigned to either receive these support calls in addition to their usual care, or to receive only their usual care. The researchers will measure changes in well-being, emergency room visits, and how patients manage their symptoms and care preferences over a year.
