First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tested whether a superficial cervical plexus block (a numbing injection in the neck) helps people recover better after thyroid surgery. 160 adults were randomly given either the numbing drug bupivacaine or a saltwater placebo while under anesthesia. The main goal was to see if the block improved quality of recovery on the first day after surgery, measured by a detailed questionnaire.
