First seen Mar 23, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tested whether sulfasalazine, a drug used for arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), can help people with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a rare liver condition. About 32 adults with both PSC and IBD took either sulfasalazine or a placebo for several months. Researchers measured changes in liver enzymes and symptoms to see if the drug is safe and effective.
