First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether sulfasalazine, a drug used for arthritis, can improve liver health and symptoms in people with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) who also have inflammatory bowel disease. 32 adults across the US took either the drug or a placebo for a set time. Researchers measured changes in liver enzymes and tracked side effects to see if the drug is safe and helpful.
