Stem cell jab could replace surgery for painful thumb arthritis

Summary

This study tests the safety of injecting a patient's own stem cells (from fat tissue) into the thumb joint to treat painful thumb arthritis when standard treatments have failed. The goal is to see if this injection can control the disease and avoid the need for surgery. The trial involves 12 adults with moderate thumb arthritis who are already candidates for surgery.
