NCT ID NCT06511258
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a home-based program of exercise, nutrition advice, and breathing exercises before surgery to see if it reduces disability three months after the operation. Half of the 902 participants will follow the program using an online platform, while the other half will receive usual care. The goal is to improve recovery and quality of life for people undergoing major abdominal, chest, pelvic, head-and-neck, or vascular surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
home-based multimodal prehabilitation program (exercise, nutrition, and breathing) supported through an online platform
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a simple, at-home way for people to recover better after major surgery, reducing disability and improving quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a pilot trial, so results are preliminary. The program requires internet access and motivation, which may not work for everyone. It may not show a clear benefit over standard care.
