New brain zapping technique could ease Parkinson's symptoms without surgery
NCT ID NCT07625540
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new, non-invasive brain stimulation method called transcranial temporal interference stimulation (tTIS) for people with Parkinson's disease. The treatment targets a deep brain area involved in movement control. 32 participants will receive either real or sham stimulation daily for five days. The goal is to see if it safely improves both motor (like tremor and stiffness) and non-motor symptoms (like mood and thinking).
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
transcranial temporal interference stimulation (tTIS) - a non-invasive brain stimulation device
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new, non-invasive way to ease both movement and non-movement symptoms in Parkinson's disease, potentially reducing reliance on medication.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early exploratory trial with only 32 people, so results may not apply widely. The stimulation is short-term (5 days), so any benefits might be temporary or not appear at all.
