Gel boosts gum disease treatment? small study investigates
NCT ID NCT07672665
First seen Jun 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether a special gel, called Sterify Gel, can improve the results of standard non-surgical gum disease treatment. Researchers will review records from 20 adults with moderate to severe periodontitis who received deep cleaning plus the gel. The main goal is to see if the gel helps reduce the depth of gum pockets more than cleaning alone.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Sterify Gel (mucoadhesive polymeric hydrogel)
What this could lead to
If effective, this gel could become a simple add-on to standard gum disease treatment, helping to reduce deep gum pockets without surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, retrospective study with only 20 patients, so results may not apply to everyone. The gel's benefit over standard care alone is not yet proven.
