New Step-by-Step care model aims to halt psychosis in its tracks
NCT ID NCT03970005
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing a step-based care model for 100 people aged 12-25 who are at high risk for psychosis. Participants start with low-intensity support and move to stronger treatments only if needed, with the goal of reaching remission. Researchers will track symptom relief and quality of life over two years to see if this tailored approach helps prevent full-blown psychosis.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Step-Based Care Model (behavioral intervention)
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could provide an effective way to manage early psychosis risk and prevent progression to full psychosis.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with no control group, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is complex and may not work for everyone.
