Could your own fat cells protect your new liver?

NCT ID NCT06649864

First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This early study tests whether a patient's own fat-derived stem cells can safely prevent bile duct complications after a living donor liver transplant. About 20 adults with end-stage liver disease will receive these cells during surgery. The main goal is to check for side effects like infections or blockages, and to see if the cells reduce bile leaks or strictures.
