New transplant method aims to tame dangerous side effect in blood cancer patients

NCT ID NCT05617625

Summary

This study is testing a method to process stem cell transplants for patients with a serious blood disorder called myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). The goal is to reduce a common and dangerous complication called graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), where the donor's immune cells attack the patient's body. Researchers will use a special device to remove certain immune cells from the donor's blood before the transplant, hoping this leads to fewer complications and better survival.
