Doctors test stem cell eye injections to fight blindness

NCT ID NCT01736059

Summary

This early-stage study is checking if it's safe and possible to treat vision loss by injecting a patient's own bone marrow stem cells directly into the eye. It involves 15 adults who have lost vision from conditions like macular degeneration or diabetic retinopathy. The main goal is to look for serious side effects and see if the procedure can be done reliably, with patients followed for six months after the injection.
