First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests whether a numbing injection near the neck nerves (stellate ganglion block) given before coronary bypass surgery can lower the chance of developing atrial fibrillation, a fast and irregular heartbeat, after the operation. About 60 adults having bypass surgery will take part. The goal is to see if this simple procedure can reduce the need for extra heart medications or other treatments after surgery.
