Nerve block before bypass may stop Post-Surgery heart flutter

NCT ID NCT07271615

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether giving a nerve block (stellate ganglion block) before coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) can reduce the chance of developing atrial fibrillation, a common irregular heartbeat after surgery. About 60 adults having CABG will be randomly assigned to receive the block or not. The goal is to see if this simple procedure can prevent a frequent complication and reduce the need for extra heart medications.
